Minisite's Taxonomy in Permalinks

    Hey there,

I want to have the ability to define the following permalink structure:

    http://url.com/minisite-slug/global-categories/cus...

I have defined a new taxonomy called "type". I should be able to edit my permalinks using the %type% variable. However, when I add that, it does not resolve the taxonomy but just shows as %type% in the URL.

I dig around on the internet and found this article:

    http://shibashake.com/wordpress-theme/add-custom-t...

I believe the implementation will happen in the minisites.php file. A new filter hook and function needs to be defined that tallys with the existing minisite functions.

I know minisites are actually just "custom posts" and this fix should work. I need your help to write me the code snippet so it can be implemented.

If you need any help finding existing code within the theme files let me know. As for actually writing custom code that is beyond the scope of free support, but I'm glad to help you find anything you're looking for that currently exists within the theme.

    Hi there,

Well, the thing is, with the current setup, the SEO is terrible. Each minisite has its own URL and they don't tally with the posts' URL. If you look at the demo site, this is how the URL structure goes:

Home > Video Games Minisite > Xbox > Post

    Home: http://www.industrialthemes.com/flavor/

    Video Games Minisite: http://www.industrialthemes.com/flavor/video-game-...

    Xbox: http://www.industrialthemes.com/flavor/videogames-...

    Post Under Xbox: http://www.industrialthemes.com/flavor/video-games...

This confuses the SEO greatly as the sitemap goes haywire..I would want to have the structure as follows:

    Home: http://www.industrialthemes.com/flavor/

    Video Games Minisite: http://www.industrialthemes.com/flavor/video-games...

    Xbox: http://www.industrialthemes.com/flavor/video-games...

    Post Under Xbox: http://www.industrialthemes.com/flavor/video-games...

That would be streamlined and SEO friendly as the structure can be built in the sitemap.

You can turn off the minisite rewriting and use standard WordPress permalinks which will give you greater control over permalink modding, and to do that go to theme options >> minisite setup >> Standard Permalink Method and make sure that is ticked and then click confirm minisites.

If that's what we do, how would we include the minisite's slug and taxonomies in the Permalink's settings?

They should be included automatically but I'm not sure how WordPress treats them - that's how it works with categories and tags so I would assume taxonomies would work the same. Minisites wouldn't (i.e. the "post type") but taxonomies should as far as I can tell...

Which is why I gave that link..It should include the "minisites" as part of the permalinks structure..This would be a great addition to this already great theme and enhance its flexibility even more..That post explains how to add the custom post types into permalinks structure - but its not generic, as in making it only focused on one custom post type..I bet it will only take you 7 minutes to cook up the code that supports all minisites seamlessly..The first part of the code is already done in your theme.. :)

Thanks for the link, I'll reference that when I look into this for a future possible theme update.
