WordPress generates your rss feed, it's just up to you to put the link anywhere you want on your site. So once you have your rss link just create any kind of link you wan tan dput it anywhere you want in your site. Neither Continuum nor Flavor actually does any functionality as far as RSS is concerned, that's all built-in WordPress functionality.
Yes, I understand that WP automatically sorts out RSS feeds- I'm asking if Flavor either has an active RSS icon or widget that I've overlooked or whether I have to find one from the WP.org widget repository because the only RSS widget I've found in Flavor is one apparently specified for displaying an RSS feed from an external site - when I have it active most of my users dont realise that the text displayed along the top of the widget is a link to the external site and that the RSS icon itself is the RSS feed link.
Since I'm displaying an RSS feed of my own site, my users are clicking the link which just has the effect of refreshing the front page.
Are there any widgets you can recommend or am I stuck with just making a html icon/text link to the RSS feed in an unwrapped text widget?
Oh I see, your'e just referring to putting a link/button to your rss feed somewhere in your site, and that Continuum had a designated icon for this, I see now. Flavor just doesn't happen to have a built in icon for this but you can easily get your own rss icon from a resource such as The Noun Project and then just put it into a sidebar linking to your RSS feed. If you wanted it in some specific place and you needed help locating a specific line of code within the theme please let me know. The RSS widget I believe is a WordPress specific widget, not a theme-related widget. I don't know of any specific plugins that would do this (I'm sure they're out there though) or else I would recommend one. Sorry for the misunderstanding.
Is there any way to use the shortcode RSS icon in an unwrapped text widget? I've found one example of making shortcodes work in widgets but after my last excursion editing the theme files I don't particularly want to stuff it up again.
Make sure you have the latest version of Flavor installed. It is already setup so that shortcodes work in the unwrapped text widget
