“Thumbnails on front page cropping not resizing”

Awesome theme. I accidentally submitted this a second ago as Private. Oops, wanted it Public. . I have never worked with thumbnails before in WP. I created a test article, in my Books & Audible Minisite section. It is a quick test page called "test book article" with a Ken Follet book image. . Okay...the problem: The featured THUMBNAIL image is being "cropped" and not "reduced/pulled in" on the loop/front page. See attached image. The thumbnail should be reduced not cropped. Not sure what I'm doing wrong. Must be really stupid question, cause I can't find a solution online. Maybe a basic step by step WP process to fix this, that I am unaware of? Would you help?

ACtually this is just the way wordpress works - it crops and resizes images to fit into the correct aspect ratios of the image slots. Make sure your images are at least larger than the sizes they appear in. What is the size of the image you are using in that screenshot? Is it at least wider than the image slot when it's originally uploaded?

Wow, thank you for responding so quickly.  You were right...it was the aspect ratios.  The image to use must be in a Landscape/Horizontal Rectangular orientation....not Portrait.  I added blank/black space around the image of the book, enabling the image to reduce correctly to a thumbnail.-----------See attached images: 1) a vertical image crops, 2) a horizontal image reduces correctly, 3) so I added space around image...reduces correctly.----------Thank you for the excellent customer service.  :0)

Nice - looks great! Looks like you're understanding it perfectly. Thanks for updating your ticket with the screenshots, glad it's working for you now!

I am actually having this problem now (SoMoMag.com - see bottom two images under "Lighting" and "Pets"). I also added a background and changed the ratio but it is still cropping instead of resizing. Please advise and thank you in advance for your assistance.

Never mind. I fixed it. :) Thank you.
